Media Center Information
The Academy I Middle School Media Center houses the library and computer lab. The Media Center is available for classroom use Monday - Friday from 8:45am to 2:55pm. The library is staffed by Patricia Espejo. The computer lab is staffed by Richard Wisniewski. The library has over 8,000 books and 400 videos in inventory. There are six HP computers for students to use. The computer lab has 4 computer work stations with 6 HP computers at each station. All computers are used by students and teachers for word processing, research, and Internet searching.




Non-Fiction Books: This is the largest section of the library. They are arranged in order according to the Dewey Decimal System. These books can be borrowed for up to two weeks.

Fiction Books: This section includes books that students are interested in reading outside the classroom. There are also books that students can use for reports and projects. These books can be borrowed for up to two weeks.

Reference Section: This sections contains encyclopedias, dictionaries, almanacs, atlases, and other fact books and materials students may use for research. These books may not be removed from the library. Magazines: We receive monthly magazines for the enjoyment of both students and staff. Some titles include: Sports Illustrated for Kids, Zoo Books, National Geographic, BMX, Road and Track, Teen People, and Jump among others. These cannot be borrowed.

Books may be checked out for two weeks
Two books may be checked out at a time
Lost or damaged books must be replaced or paid for before you may check out books again
Food, gum, and drinks are not allowed in the Media Center.
When Extended Day is in session, you may come to the Media Center before school from 7:30-8:00am or after school from 2:55-3:55pm for educational reasons, such as reading, studying, research, doing homework, or using the computers.
If you need to use the Media Center during lunchtime, permission and a pass is needed.
