As always, your Child Study Team Case Manager is there to assist you with any questions that you might have regarding your child or loved one's education. The Mission of the Jersey City Schools Special Education Department is to improve the quality of life for students with disabilities and their families by providing comprehensive expertise, education, support and tools for students with special needs. It is our goal to prepare all students to achieve to their unique potential while becoming productive, valued, and contributing members to their families and society. The Special Education Department is accountable for ensuring that all special education programs, regulations and procedures are in compliance with the I.D.E.A. (Individual with Disability Education Act).

The belief that each child matters is at the heart of all of our efforts in the Department of Special Education. We are dedicated to creating all-inclusive schools with programs and services that promote the success of all students. We nurture collaboration between students, families and school staff ensuring support for students with disabilities and their family’s through the implementation of individualized education programs in the least restrictive environment.
Special Education Parent Advisory Group(S.E.P.A.G.): The Department of Special Education assures parents are an integral part of our comprehensive support system. S.E.P.A.G. consists of parents representing each school as designated by the school's principal. The S.E.P.A.G. meets monthly and assists in planning and disseminating information on programs and services to the community.
Do you have a child ages 3-21, whom you believe may be experiencing difficulties in school or at home? Do you feel that your child may have a problem with learning or another disabling condition?
Project Child Find is a continuous process of public awareness, screening, and evaluation designed to locate, identify and refer, as early as possible, all young children with disabilities and their families who are in need of Early Intervention as stated in Program (Part C) or Preschool Special Education (Part B /619) services of the Individuals with Disability Act (IDEA, 2004).
