About the Department of Curriculum and Instruction

The Jersey City Board of Education’s Department of Curriculum & Instruction serves the educational needs of the students of Jersey City with more than twenty departments and programs. We advocate and support the teaching and learning that assists all students in reaching their maximum academic potential, and provides enriching educational support and services for all professional staff members.

Our primary goal is to ensure that all schools focus on teaching and learning by adhering to the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards (NJCCCS). The NJCCCS requires that all students should meet specific benchmarks in nine key areas— Language Arts Literacy, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, World Languages, Technological Literacy, Comprehensive Health & Physical Education, Visual & Performing Arts, and Career Education and Consumer, Family and Life Skills— by the end of their thirteen years of study in our public schools.

We invite you to become better acquainted with our departments and programs  through this site and by playing an active role in our children’s education at your local school.

For more information, please contact our offices by phoning 201-915-6020.
