
Cafeteria Services oversees the district’s participation in National School Lunch Program as well as serving breakfasts and after school snacks. Employing sound food preparation practices, the department serves nutritious, appetizing meals sensitive to the cultural needs of students in compliance with federal, state and local regulations and policies.
Meals are offered free or at a reduced price to those eligible. Eligibility is determined after submission of an application. Eacb school year approximately 7,000 breakfasts, 22,000 lunches and 4,000 after school snacks are served daily.
The department conducts training programs for its employees on topics ranging from food preparation, hazard analysis, nutrition, work place safety to the effect of diet and exercise in preventing diabetes and childhood obesity.
