Model Early Childhood Center Named in Honor of Glenn D. Cunningham

New School construction in the Jersey City Public School District has a definite focus on pre school children.
A shining example is the new Early Childhood Center at 218 Ocean Avenue, named in honor of the late Mayor Glenn D. Cunningham. The Early Childhood Center opened in January, 2005.

The center features five classrooms as well as offices, support and multi-purpose rooms and a kitchen.
The center is the educational home for 75 four-year old children.
The center is a joint project of the New Jersey Department of Education, the New Jersey School Construction Corporation, URS and The Jersey City Board of Education.
There was no cost to the school district.
The center originally was a warehouse building.
The one-story building featured 12,000 square feet and was gutted.
Today, it is model early childhood center.
