| More than 1,500 Jersey City Middle School students were inspired to persue careers in science, technology, engineering, and math when Honeywell and NASA brought the fall tour of FMA Live!, our award-winning science concert, to James J. Ferris High School. Named for Sir Isaac Newton's Second Law of Motion (force = mass x acceleration), FMA Live! uses professional actors, original songs, music videos and interactive science demonstrations to teach Newton's Three Laws of Motion and Universal Law of Gravity. |
| Honeywell Educators @ Space Academy |
| Four Jersey City teachers received Honeywell Scholarships to spend one week at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama, as part of Honeywell Educators @ Space Academy. The Space Academy for Educators program provides 40 hours of intensive classroom, laboratory and training time, focusing on space science and space exploration. During the program, teachers participate in astronaut-style training and simulations, along with activities designe to promote lifelong learning in a clasroom setting. |
| Victoria Anne Horvath Playground |
| Country Village children have new grafitti-resistant play structures to explore and they will be able to beat the summer heat with a user-activated spray fountain at the newly-renovated Victoria Anne Horvath Playground at McGovern Park in Jersey City. Working in partnership with the community and Councilman Mike Sottolano, Honeywell sponsored the renovated playground. Jersey City's Recreation Master Plan identified McGovern Park as a community asset in need of improvement. Playground enhancements also include colorful safety surfacing, landscaping, structural repairs and decorative gates. |
