The Jersey City Board of Education’s Adult Education Program is dedicated to helping men and women, who are 18 years and older, obtain the educational credentials and skills they need to live and work in today’s world. We have a full-time staff of certified teachers to conduct our classes. ALL of our Adult Education programs are offered FREE of charge and FREE childcare is available.

Our Adult High School program provides those who have been away from a traditional high school for one year or more with an alternative way of earning a high school diploma.

Classes for Pre-GED and GED preparation in English and Spanish, and ESL (English as a Second Language) classes are available at our Adult Learning Centers.

We also offer vocational and commercial courses that can enhance job skills and classes such as basic home repair, word processing, and even jewelry making to make life easier and more enjoyable.

Career Exploration and Job Opportunities

As part of the Adult Education program, we work with the Jersey City Employment and Training Program to offer “One Stop” career services for everyone enrolled in our program.

  •  Vocational counseling

  • Referrals to employers with appropriate job openings

  • Referrals to other agencies for job training
