An Experiential Approach to Multicultural Education

The Joint Activities Program has served over 28,000 students since its inception in 1980. By experiencing a series of field trips that focus on environmental education together with students of other district schools, elementary-level participants learn of the world around them and each other.

The Joint Activities Program has been cited for achievements in the area of environmental education by the North American Association for Environmental Education, the New Jersey Association of Environmental Education, and the Alliance for New Jersey Environmental Education. Financial contributors include Liberty Savings Federal Credit Union, Mack-Cali Realty Corp., Public Service Electric and Gas, Liberty Landing Marina, GMAC Mortgage Co., and Goldman Sachs.
