The Jersey City Public Schools Department of Early Childhood started in 1989 and is now in its 9th year under the State Department of Education's Preschool Program.
The Jersey City Public Schools is committed to providing a quality "Developmentally Appropriate" Pre-School experience for all 3 and 4 year old children. |
To this end the High/Scope research-based curriculum model is used in the classrooms, which is directly aligned to the "Preschool Teaching and Learning Expectations: Standards of Quality" adopted by the New Jersey State Department of Education. The majority of the four year old children are placed in classes within the Jersey City Public Schools, while most of the three year old children attend classes in childcare centers located throughout Jersey City that have Abbott Contracts with the District. |
