All Inclusive Mentoring Synergy Sessions (A.I.M.S.S.) 201-915-6108

District wide program which supports students, teachers, parents and administrators in an all inclusive model in the Jersey City Public Schools.   Inclusion Specialist develops and implements an Inclusive program that meets the needs students are placed in inclusive environments where not only are their academic needs met, but their social and emotional development are also promoted. 

Alternative Behavior Program (ABP) 201-915-6796

The Alternative Behavior Program provides social and emotional support to students in the district.  The program introduces a variety of interventions including mild physical exercise, enhanced sensory stimulation using tactile materials, breathing techniques, music, and other relaxation strategies to encourage and support emotional well-being, greater self-esteem, increased self-control and independence. 

Alternate Proficiency Assessment (APA) 201-309-1630

The APA is a portfolio-style assessment, designed to measure progress toward achieving New Jersey’s state educational standards for those students with severe disabilities who are unable to participate in the New Jersey Assessment of Skills and Knowledge (NJ ASK grades 3-8 or the High School Proficiency assessment (HSPA grade 11). 

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) 201-309-1630

Applied Behavior Analysis is the application of the science of behaviorism to systematically improve socially significant behavior to a meaningful degree and to demonstrate that the procedures employed were responsible for the change in behavior. 

Assistive Technology Program 201-915-6052

The Assistive Technology Program serves to increase awareness, provide training, coordinate services, facilitate and assist in the acquisition of and implement and assess the utilization of assistive technology (AT) systems, services, devices and strategies that augment the abilities and compensate for the disabilities of students, making it possible for them to be educated with their non-disabled peers or the least restrictive environment (LRE).   

Autism Spectrum Disorder Program 201-915-6036

The Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) program serves students between the ages of 3 to 21 who are identified eligible for special education and related services under the classification of Autism, providing them with quality services, while integrating them into the general education environment as much as possible.    

Behavioral Counseling Support Services Program  201-946-5163

The Behavioral Counseling Support Services Program (BCSSP) addresses the social, emotional and behavioral needs of Jersey City Public Schools students. Its aim is to enhance the personal growth, emotional well-being and academic achievement of students, while decreasing symptoms of depression and anxiety related to trauma while increasing attendance and school functioning.    

Project B.E.A.C.O.N. 201-915-6185

Project B.E.A.C.O.N. is designed to enhance teaching and learning.  Project B.E.A.C.O.N. embraces the goal of Bridging Educational Achievement for Children’s Ongoing Needs, offering an on-going support service to all schools in the district.   

Capacity Building Initiative Design Team (C.B.I.) 201-547-2060

The Capacity Building Initiative Design Team (CBI) facilitates training and professional development seminars on best inclusionary practices to help the classroom teacher create a successful educational environment in the inclusion class, with the goal of creating learning communities to meet the individual student’s needs through the all inclusive model  

Collaborative Consultation Initiative for Inclusion (C.C.I.I.) 201-547-2060

The CCII project is a collaborative effort geared to transitioning preschool children into inclusive environments.   

Collaborative Consultation Teacher Program (C.C.T.) 201-547-2060

The Collaborative Consultation Teacher (CCT) is a special educator who will provide ongoing support for students with an IEP in a General Education Class that has no other support program.   

Extended Day Learning Lab 201-413-6937

An innovative supplemental reading program as an after-school extended day support for students experiencing difficulty as readers.  

Fundamentals Fitness Four Program 201-915-6046

In the Fundamentals Fitness Four Program children participated in lessons to improve their gross motor development. Children had the opportunity to improve their locomotor movements, cardiovascular fitness, eye-hand and eye-foot coordination.   

Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant Internship Program 201-915-6229

A comprehensive Teacher Assigned as Learning Disabilities Consultant- Intern program will afford them hands-on experiences in the role and function of an LDTC.   

Non-Public School Program 201-915-6205

Non Public School Program is the delivery of appropriate special education support services to the non public school students who attend a Non Public School in Jersey City and have a current service plan.     

Out of District Program 201-946-5163

Services to students in need of educational and therapeutic services not currently available in the Jersey City Public Schools system, providing the least restrictive environment for students in need of specialized services and structured therapeutic environment.   

Parent Advisory Council 201-915-6760

The Parent Advisory Council consists of a group of parents representing each school in our district, as well as a representative from our out of district school placements.  The parent representatives report to their respective schools on the Department’s activities and initiatives.    

School Psychology Externship Program 201-915-6199

The School Psychology Externship Program provides experiences, training activities, mentoring and field supervision for candidates seeking certification as School Psychologists.   

Preschool Disable Program 201-309-2951

The Preschool Disabled Program serves children between the ages of 3 and 5 who are identified as having a disabling condition and/or measurable developmental delay.      

Reading Assistance in Special Education (Project R.A.I.S.E.) 201-915-6768

A literacy program provided to students with learning disabilities and general education students  with individualized, intensive support and instruction in literacy.   A multi-sensory structured approach to reading, writing and speaking is utilized to maximize success. 

Response to Intervention (RtI) 201-915-6188

Educators are called to use scientifically researched based interventions within the Response to Intervention (RtI) Model.  Interventions in the general education setting is provided to students exhibiting academic difficulties and shall be utilized, as appropriate, prior to referring a student for an evaluation of eligibility for special education and related services.  

School-Wide Positive Behavior Support (S.W.P.B.S.) 201-547-2060

School-Wide Positive Behavior Support (PBS) is a problem-solving model that aims to prevent inappropriate behavior through teaching and reinforcing appropriate behaviors.  Providing a range of interventions that are systematically provided to students based on their demonstrated level of need, and addresses the role of the environment as it applies to development and improvement of behavior problems.    

Shared Time Vocational Program 201-915-6199

Shared Time Program provides formal academic training and vocational experiences and training for classified high school students.  The goal of each of the three shared time programs is to enhance student achievement, improve graduation rates, and promote the development of vocational skills that will enhance opportunities for employment. 

Special Education Literacy Resource Coach Program (S.E.L.R.C.) 201-413-6937

Literacy Resource Coach Program is to assist in bridging the achievement gap between general education students and special education students.  Building instructional support for administrators, general education, special education and bilingual/ESL teachers who provide instruction to students with disabilities grades K-4. 

Transitional Program 201-946-5188

Transition Program provides a full array of transitional services for classified students as well as consultation for students in the Jersey City Public Schools.  The Transition Program seeks to make certain that students are provided the skills required for independent living and success.  The program provides the opportunity for graduation for all students and a successful post-secondary plan.   

Transitional Education and Motivational Program (T.E.A.M.) 201-547-2225

TEAM Program provides an interim learning environment, facilitates the development of skills and reinforces the structure necessary for transition back to the student’s respective home school.  

Unified Sports and Young Athlete 201-915-6770

Unified Sports Program and the Young Athlete Program is  sporting events and competitions throughout the school year to promote, encourage, and include children with disabilities in physical activity and play while promoting social development.
