ATTENDANCE

Students are expected to attend school regularly and must have good reason for any and all absences.

High School students will not receive credit for a course if such student has been:

Absent 18 school days from a full year course (10 or 15 credits)
Absent 9 school days from a semester course (5 credits)
Absent 5 school days from a marking period course (2.5 credits)

Students who are ineligible for course credit in any semester marking period as a result of absences will be immediately ineligible to participate in:

Extracurricular activities
Interscholastic Athletics
District Scholarship Programs
District Magnet Programs
Cooperative Education Programs

STUDENT CODE OF CONDUCT

An effective, instructional program requires an orderly school environment, and the effectiveness of the educational program is, in part, reflected in the behavior of pupils.
Such an environment must include respect for self and others, as well as for district and community property.

STUDENT RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

RIGHTS

A. Our students have the right to receive an education which allows for maximum personal growth and prepares them to be productive members of our society.
B. Our students have the right to participate in all aspects of school regardless of race, color, national origin, sexual orientation, sex or on the basis of a handicapping condition.
C. Our students have the right to present information that has a bearing on disciplinary action.
D. Our students have the right to a safe, comfortable and orderly school environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Our students have the following responsibilities regarding their education:

A. To attend school and all classes.
B. To adhere to all school rules, policies and directions from teachers and others.
C. To respect the rights of others and to reach their educational goals.
D. To demonstrate mutual respect and tolerance for personal differences.
E. To participate to the fullest in the educational process.
F. To express themselves in a manner which does not disrupt the orderly operation of the school or the management of classrooms.
G. To pursue the prescribed course of study.
H. To respect and care for school property.
I. To adhere to all school safety and health regulations and procedures.
J. To wear school issued I.D. cards at all times while on school property.

DRESS CODE

Students are expected to dress appropriately. Attire should not be too extreme as to create a disturbance in the educational environment.

Proper and safe footwear is required at all times.
Head covering are not permitted except for religious or medical reasons.
Hats are not to be worn or carried throughout the school.
Skin-tight fitting pants, dresses, or shorts are not permitted.
Clothing that could cause damage to any student or school property is not to be worn.
Girls are not permitted to wear transparent blouses.
Halter tops and tube tops are not permitted. Tops must meet the waistband of slacks, skirts, or shorts.
Mini-skirts, (mid-thigh or higher) are not permitted.
Short shorts (mid-thigh or higher) are not permitted.
Undershirts are not permitted to be worn as the outer garment.
Slogans, patches and emblems that are obscene are not permitted.
Pants should not be hung so low as the expose underwear.
Sneakers and shoes with laces should have laces tied or secured at all times.
Clothing worn while actively participating in physical education class is not to be worn in the classroom in schools where locker rooms are available. A change of clothing must be brought to school. Physical Education attire (such as sweat suites, etc.) is only permitted to be worn in gym and or athletic fields.
