Liberty High School Vision Statement
A high school requires a vision statement to serve as that goal toward which everybody strives. A vision statement moves a school community beyond "just coping" and "surviving" to believing, committing, and thriving. Guided by a vision statement, all stakeholders can work together to create a school and a state of being that are more meaningful than the mechanics that are associated with isolated, individual efforts. The vision of Liberty High School grows out of our mission statement, the personal visions and shared values of staff members, and our design as an "alternative" school.

We envision a small school that lends itself to a family-like atmosphere where all members are safe, responsible, involved, supported, and challenged. In such an environment, teachers and administrators are encouraged to stretch beyond their own classroom or office walls -- to welcome collaboration and interdisciplinary learning, to assume leadership, and share ideas with respect and consideration. Our goal is to create an environment where student achievement is not only a possibility, but a reality.

At Liberty, education is a serious business, based on respect for all participants (students, teachers and administrators, alike), academic rigor (including college preparation, student choice in electives, cooperative learning, project-based learning, interdisciplinary research and study, and in-class support), and individual responsibility (for learning, homework, materials, and actions).

As part of the effort to create such an environment, we envision three goals to focus on for the current school year:
1. Establish and maintain volunteer, faculty committees.
2. Develop and strengthen academic rigor across the board.
3. Create and maintain a more engaging, stimulating, and eduactionally sound environment.
