A Letter from Our Principal
piccilo2
Mr. Frank Piccillo
We are so thankful for the opportunity to serve our students, parents and staff for another school year. It is certainly our pleasure to do so. This issue of the Parent/Principal Connection marks the debut of new initiatives. In addition to some of our existing exciting programs and activities, the unveiling of our Extended Day Program and our Morning Tutoring Sessions cap off what has truly been a memorable first marking period for PS #33. We are also proud to announce that 25 new members have joined our PTA. We also hope you like our newly decorated front entrance.

It has been undoubtedly our decision in concurrence with our PTA to assume another responsibility and devote more time and energy focusing on motivating students, which we believe, is crucial to helping our students succeed. A significant impact has been made in promoting social and emotional growth, and student achievement. However, this is only the tip of the iceberg. We will continue to provide staff development to furnish our teachers with the strategies and tools necessary to spark in our students, a desire to succeed. We will also continue to award our students with incentives in an effort to encourage them to always do their best. Thank You again for helping your children with the summer packet. Our students who made a sincere effort to complete the packets were awarded with a movie, popcorn, a backpack and other goodies. Our Halloween Parade, once again was very enjoyable to all. Winners will receive incentives on Awards Assembly Day, December 4th and 5th. You will receive a flyer to inform you of the grade levels to be recognized on each of those days.

As we walk through the corridors we see many beautiful displays of students’ accomplishments that mirror the effective teaching and learning that occurs in our classrooms. Our teachers are doing a wonderful job and we applaud them for their efforts. More importantly, we commend our parents for continued support, without you, this task would be virtually impossible.

We are so happy to see that many of the parents and teachers have taken ownership and being proactive in our quest by formulating plans to provide a wide variety of exciting lessons addressing specific intelligences that encourage our students to achieve the best possible results. We recognize that and are grateful for their efforts. We urge our parents to call and make arrangements to visit our school, and your child’s teachers during the second marking period to discuss various ways you can help your child at home. It is critical for our students to know that they are loved both at home and at school. Once again, from the bottom of our hearts, we would like to thank our students, PTA, parents and teachers for a wonderful job. We hope to see you soon.

Warmest Regards,
Mr. Frank Piccillo
