Parent-Teacher-Partnership |
One of the most important groups at out school is the Parent-Teacher-Partnership (PTP). The purpose of the group is to form relationships between parents, teachers, and staff members who can then work collaboratively for the good of our children. The PTP was responsible for establishing one of the most successful uniform programs in Jersey City. Pre-K to 7th grade students wear navy blue uniform shirts and khaki pants. 8th grade students, who are preparing for the transition to high school, are permitted to come to consensus on a different shirt color for their last year at Cordero. This new shirt carries their "moving on" year on the sleeve. The uniform policy allows the children to have a sense of belonging and school pride while at the same time eliminating the daily hassle of clothing choices. The PTP supplies help to families who are unable to afford the school uniform.
Through the efforts of the PTP, our children have participated in many activities such as roller skating parties, field trips, movies, assemblies and an annual Halloween party. They are also instrumental in helping with our 8th grade Celebration Week.
