Vision Statement
books
When the vision of J. W. Wakeman School is implemented, our students will be engaged in learning that nurtures their physical, psychological, social, cognitive and ethical development. Our students will be involved in inquiry processes motivating them to learn to question and to seek information, with the goal of enabling them to problem solve and to make important decisions affecting themselves, others, and their environment.

Teachers will develop lessons and activities that reflect high expectations for student learniing, as well as to foster critical thinking skills. Teachers will use a variety of strategies to ensure that student learning is relevant, effective, and engaging. They will use assessments as a way to diagnose students' learning problems and progress. Assessments will be on-going and will relate to instruction and the Core Curriculum Content Standards to ensure that "no child is left behind." Excellence will be recognized and rewarded through acknowledgements and celebrations that represent all stakeholders who have contributed to school improvement and to raising student achievement. Within our positive learning environment, our students will be prepared to face challenges and become empowered by their ability to adapt and grow.
