The Crisis Intervention Teachers enforce the school regulations and district's code of conduct. Working with Mr. Skowronski the Vice Principal in charge of discipline, they meet with students to resolve conflicts that might disrupt the educational process. Their responsibilities include: Mediating conflict resolution sessions between students, assisting administration with providing an environment that is conducive to learning, and handling all disciplinary problems that might occur in the classroom.

Under the JC HIP 6-12, Ferris High School administration has assigned each CIT to be part of an SLC. Acting in coordination with the teachers and the guidance department, CIT's assist in planning activities for each small learning community. For example, the Business and Finance Teachers working collaboratively with Ms. Dolan planned a Meet and Greet Session for their students in the gymnasium which contained a number of activities where students could receive prizes for their performance. Ms. Andino and The House of International Enterprise held a celebration for the Chinese New Year. These two examples highlight a year's work of worth in assisting each SLC in developing a culture both inside and outside of the classroom.

Providing a safe and secure learning envrironment for both staff and students is the primary goal of the Ferris High School Administration. The CIT's acting in accordance with the Secondary School Initiative and the prospective teachers within each SLC is vital in helping Ferris High School attain this vision.
