STUDENT UNIFORM POLICY
Since our school is a place of business and learning, it is the obligation of the students to maintain their personal appearance in a manner that reflects well on themselves and the Christa McAuliffe School. As per the Jersey City Public Schools Code of Conduct, students will dress in the designated uniform of their grade. It is the responsibility of parents and students to see that students are properly dressed and groomed.
- Our uniform will consist of khaki colored pants for all students. Pants should not be loose fitting or hang so low as to expose underwear.
- Female students will have the option of wearing khaki pants, jumpers, skirts, or skorts (skirts with shorts attached). Skin-tight fitting clothing, mini-skirts, jeans and shorts are not permitted.
- All uniform shirts will have a collar and bear our school logo. Boys and girls will wear the same color shirt.
- Kindergarten through seventh grade students’ shirts will be maroon with a white logo.
- Eighth grade students’ shirts will be gray with a maroon logo.
- For Physical Education class, K through 3rd grade students will have the option of wearing their school uniforms or purchasing sweat pants and sweat shirts in the school colors with our school logo.
- Students in grades 4 through 8 will be required to wear their uniform to school and change into the sweat clothing of their choice for Physical Education, then change back into their school uniform at the end of class.
- Clothing that could cause damage to any student or school property is not to be worn.
- Head coverings are only permitted for religious or medical reasons. Hats are not to be worn or carried throughout school.
- Proper and safe footwear is required at all times. Sneakers and shoes with laces should be tied or secured at all times.
