Our School Uniforms
Dear Parents/Guardians:
P.S. #29 is a uniform school. In March 1999, the Parent Council, School Administration, and Central Office staff agreed to implement a Uniform Policy for all grade levels.
The uniform colors for PS #29 are Navy Blue and Sky Blue:
Pre-Kindergarten-Grade 5 Girls Pre-Kindergarten-Grade 5 Boys
Navy Blue Jumper Dress, Skirt or Skort Navy Blue Slacks or Short
Sky Blue Blouse (short or long sleeves) Sky Blue Shirt (short or long sleeves)
Navy Blue Sweater and Bow Tie Navy Blue Sweater and Tie
Navy or Black Stocking or Socks Navy or Black Socks
Blue or Black Shoes Blue or Black Shoes
Gym UniformBoys and Girls
Navy Blue Shorts or Sweat Pants
White Tee Shirt or P.S. #29 Logo Shirt
Sneakers (to be worn for gym only)
We believe school uniforms instill a sense of pride and uniformity within the student body. It reduces anxiety, discomfort and in some cases, fear about being teased for not having the most trendy or expensive clothing. It also allows students to concentrate more while learning, which the primary reason for attending school. Therefore, for the 2010-2011 school year, P.S. #29 will strictly enforce the uniform dress code. Those students who do not wear uniforms will not be allowed outside during lunch, will not be able to participate in extra-curricular activities and may be subjected to other disciplinary actions.
This will be enforced beginning Thursday, September 9, 2010 and there will be no exceptions unless it is part of a school-sponsored activity or under special circumstances with the Principal’s permission. With your continued cooperation and support we can make a difference in the lives of our children. Please sign below and return it with your child in the morning.
