ANTHONY J. INFANTE SCHOOL/ PS #31
The Anthony J. Infante School’s high-spirited positive learning environment stems from a collaborative effort shared by all. The Infante school is an inclusive primary school, privileged to house 7 special education classes, 6 early childhood classes, 2 kindergarten, 2 first grade and 2 second grade classes. Our beautiful 1906 building reflects timeless décor and values. The entire staff is student centered with a mission that includes maximizing individual and group potential, compliant with state mandates and with a concentration on continued growth.
The students of the Infante school are happy, self confident individuals. Every child is a star here. The staff works cooperatively with parents to provide students with the tools necessary to become productive members of society. A firm foundation in the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards ensures students a lifetime of educational success.
Literacy is front and center at the Infante School. Bulletin boards are alive with students’ writing. Assemblies are packed with poetry readings, one hundred book challenge milestones and awards, plays, choral readings, and songs. The students take great pride in the number of books they have read, and are happy to recommend some good ones to their fellow students.
Our school has many staff members to support the efforts of our students. We have a Reading Recovery program for our first grade students to assist with their literacy development; Math coaches help students discover the wonderful world of numbers and problem solving; An intervention teacher works with teachers and at risk students; our Inclusion Specialist provides support, professional learning and modeling in our general and inclusion education classes; a Resource Room teacher assists students with a replacement or inclusive reading and math program; paraprofessionals work collaboratively with teachers to enhance student outcomes; Occupational and Physical Therapists work tirelessly to develop motor skills; speech teachers assist with students’ verbal skills; and our ABA Specialist works with students on the ASD to aid in students academic and behavioral development.
The Infante School will continue the Response to Intervention (RTI) initiative. Staff members have received training and will assist classroom teachers in developing a framework for appropriate interventions that will provide students with the support they need to be successful.
We welcome visitors to see the exciting happenings at the Anthony J. Infante School.
