Capital One Junior Achievement Program
During the month of February, forty-five 7th and 8th grade students from James F. Murray School, advised by Karen Augustine and Marissa Bulger, participated in the Capital One Junior Achievement program where they were taught about real-life financial situations. The students were taught 18 lessons throughout the course of a month about credit cards, debit cards, stocks, bonds, and real-life budgets.
At the end of the program, they participated in an off-site field trip to the Junior Achievement Finance Park where they were teamed up with Capital One bank executives. At the park, they were given a life situation where they had to calculate their net monthly income, create a budget, and pay bills.
The students enjoyed this real-life simulation and did a great job in preparing for the real-world!
