Greetings! It is my pleasure to welcome you to The Kennedy School (PS 9). At The Kennedy School we are highly committed and work collaboratively guided by the vision of creating and promoting an all inclusive learning environment where respect, understanding, and research based academic programs are key components used to address the needs of each individual student. Our staff is highly trained and continually seeks and actively participates in on-going staff development designed to increase professional teaching skills and instructional strategies. District/ School Literacy and Math Programs, including Breakthrough to Literacy, Balanced Block Literacy Program, 100 Book Challenge, Project Raise, Reading Recovery, Everyday Math and LL Teach are available and implemented to help all students reach their academic potential. An Extended Day Program in Grades 3-5 is available to assist our students in improving their academic performance.
We realize that in order to achieve our vision it is imperative that teachers, parents, and this administration continue to maintain open lines of communication concerning our educational programs and the progress of our students. Parent newsletters, conferences, and workshops are an integral part of these efforts. Monthly parents’ council meetings and activities are held to promote and strengthen our school-wide parental partnership. Parents and community members let’s continue to work together and remember that our main focus continues to be improving our students’ academic performance at all grade levels. Remember our students’ future lies in our hands. Let us embrace the challenge and work together to make the 2009-2010 school year resonate with academic success.
