About the Department of Curriculum and Instruction
Our primary goal is to ensure that all schools focus on teaching and learning by adhering to the New Jersey Student Learning Standards Standards (NJSLS). The NJSLS requires that all students should meet specific benchmarks in nine key areas— Language Arts Literacy, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, World Languages, Technological Literacy, Comprehensive Health & Physical Education, Visual & Performing Arts, and Career Education and Consumer, Family and Life Skills— by the end of their thirteen years of study in our public schools.
