McNair boys capture the NJSIAA cross country state sectional championship crown

This past weekend, the McNair Academic High School Cross Country team competed in the North 1 NJSIAA Championships. The boys team captured the crown in a total team effort with all seven runners placing in the top 12 out of a field of 56 athletes. Adam Abushanab was the top finisher for McNair on the day. Adam also recently won the South Hudson Championships helping the boys team to the HCTCA South Hudson Team championships. The winning team consists of seniors- Adam Abushanab, Tyrese Gilbert, Flobatier Salib, Harshith Samayamantula, Taimoor Sohail, sophomore Noah Page and freshman Raymond Guerrero. This is Head Coach Matt Hogan's fourth State championship for boys cross country. He is assisted by coaches Lacey Yuan, Joseph Osenenko and volunteer coach Sharon Hogan. Principal Macagano and Athletic Supervisor Hart are proud of the work the student-athletes are doing on and off the track as the team has a combined grade point average of 97.5. The team is looking forward to continuing the momentum into the winter season.
