Board Trustee-Gina Verdibello

Gina Verdibello was born to immigrant parents from Italy and Peru and grew up in Fort Lee, NJ. While attending Rutgers University she met her husband Robert who grew up in Jersey City. They reside in Jersey City and have three young children. Gina has a BA  from Rutgers University in Art History and has worked at Liberty Science Center, the American Folk Art Museum, The Picower Foundation and is currently at Peace Care as a Developmental Communications Coordinator.

Gina is very active in Jersey City. Since February 2013, she has led a Girl Scout Troop 12026 of 18 girls from all over the city. Troop 12026 ranges in age from 12-17 and they do not sell cookies. In fact, they protested the palm oil found in the cookies that are linked to child labor and deforestation. Learning about advocacy and how to protect the earth is more important to this troop and they will continue to encourage Girl Scouts organization to change the ingredient so that they can sell cookies once again.

In February 2019, Gina was appointed to serve on the Jersey City Board of Education and since then has run two more successful campaigns and currently serves on the board of the Jersey City Board of Education as the Vice President of Instruction. While being on the board, Gina has pushed for better facilities, menstrual equity, and more
money for the arts and sports programs.

In 2019 Gina was the President of the Rotary Club of Jersey City and currently is a member of the Jersey City Kiwanis Club. Service is a very important part of Gina’s career. Gina is also a parent advocate for the children that attend public school in Jersey City. Before she became of Board of Education board member, she attended and spoke at Board of Education meetings and also testified at the Trenton Board of Education against the new PARCC standardized tests and advocated for new Pre-K buildings for Jersey City.
