The best way to get answers to your specific questions is by calling your child's school. However, due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, all our students attend classes remotely at this time. Thus, increasing the volume of calls and concerns for families. Q: Who can I contact if my child needs a ChromeBook and/or Wifi Hotspot?

A: Please contact the school your child attends. The phone number of the school can be found on the

 www.jcboe.org website under Schools - General Information - click on elementary, grammar, middle, or secondary. Once you click on the category you will find a listing of schools in the district. Select the school and then click on Our School at the top left and then About Us from the drop down.

 

 

Q: How does my child log into his/her ChromeBook that was provided by the Jersey City Public School district?

A: Your child must sign in using his/her school email address and password.

 

Q: What is my child’s email and password?

 

A: A student’s email is the ID#@jcpsnj.org. All passwords were reset to studentLMI2021. If this does not work, please contact the helpdesk@jcboe.org

 

Q: If your child is utilizing a personal device other than one provided by the District, how can he/she access the email and Google Classroom?
 
A:         
  • Open a browser window. The prefered application is Google Chrome.
  •  Enter the website google.com
  • At the top right corner click Sign In
  • Enter your child's email address and password as shown above.
  • Go to www.classroom.google.com
 
 Q. My child is logged into his/her chromebook but the audio and camera are not working.
 
A: Please make sure you login with your Student ID@jcpsnj.org and not on the guest profile.
 
Q. When my child tries to sign in using his/her email and password an error pops up that the ChromeBook is locked.
 
A: Please email the serial# of your ChromeBook to the helpdesk@jcboe.org
 
Q. When my child tries to download Zoom an error message appears on the screen.
 
A: Please make sure the student is logged in with the student profile. Not Guest profile

Q: How does my child enter Google Classroom?

A: Once signed into your email, go to www.classroom.google.com

 

 Q: What platform will my child be using to communicate with his/her teacher?

A: Teachers will be utilizing Google Classroom or ClassDojo to communicate with your child and assign work.

 

 Q: How will my child access his/her Google Classroom?

A: You child should have received an email inviting them to the classroom or a code they must enter in Google Classroom.

 

  Q: Where can I go to view tutorials for the various Google Apps?

A: Please go to the JCBOE.org website and click Resources then choose Virtual Resources for Families during Remote Learning from the down menu..

 

Q: What video platform will my child be using to interact with the teacher and classmates?

A: Your child’s teacher may be utilizing Google Meet or Zoom to conduct virtual lessons.

Q: What is Clever?

 

A: Clever is a secure pipeline between our district’s data and the learning applications that our teachers and students use. Students and teachers open their devices, sign into the Clever Portal, and click on their connected applications to automatically access the online learning programs.
