Board Member Schneider
Matthew (Matt) Schneider, PhD, brings a wealth of personal and professional experience to the role. A product of public schools and the first in his family to graduate college, he believes deeply in the transformative power of education. As a parent of two children in the district, he understands the challenges schools face and is committed to improving educational outcomes for all students.
With nearly 20 years of business experience, including three years in China, Trustee Schneider has a strong foundation in fiscal responsibility, strategic planning, and consensus-building. He also co-runs a mental health practice in Jersey City, where people are central to all decision-making.
Dr. Schneider holds a PhD in engineering, an MBA, and is completing a master’s in International Affairs at Seton Hall University with a focus on development and governance. His lifelong commitment to education and problem-solving guides his approach to addressing complex challenges. On the board, his priorities include promoting good governance, securing Jersey City’s fair share of funding, ensuring classrooms are well-resourced while maintaining fiscal discipline, and expanding mental health services and after-school programs. Dr. Schneider is dedicated to working collaboratively with the community to strengthen schools and help every student thrive.
