Day School:  The Jersey City Public Schools offers free day and evening GED/ESL/Adult Basic Education Literacy classes during the school year for New Jersey residents. The day program is located at Ferris High School, 35 Colgate Street, Jersey City. Classes are offered Mondays through Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.


What do you need?

  

  •  A valid New Jersey photo ID and proof of residency are required at registration.

 

Evening Program: The evening program is located at PS #11 School, 886 Bergen Ave, Jersey City. Classes are offered Mondays through Thursdays from 6 p.m. through 9:00 p.m. Free on-site childcare is available during the evening program.

DIPLOMA PROGRAM (AEHS)

 

TAKE THE FIRST STEP (AEHS) is the adult education division of the Jersey City Public School District (JCPS). As one of the largest school districts in New Jersey, AEHS’s mission is to provide accessible, equitable, and innovative quality education to adult students.

 

What do you need?  

  • All high school transcripts and proof of address.

Please note: *You must be a Jersey City resident to attend this program.

  • Evening classes are scheduled to begin Monday, October 3, 2022. 

The Jersey City Public Schools offers Jersey City residents the ability to finish high school and receive a New Jersey State HS diploma through its evening program at Dickinson High School, 2 Palisade Ave. Jersey City. All prospective students must provide transcripts from prior high schools attended at registration.
